Chief Executive Officer, Copyright Society of Tanzania
Doreen works with the Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA) as the Acting Chief Executive Officer. COSOTA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Industry and Trade established by The Copyright and Neigbouring Rghts Act No. 7 of 1999.
She has a Master of Intellectual Property and Competition Law from The Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre; an academic centre jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, the University of Augsburg, the Technische Universität München, and The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. (USA). She has worked with COSOTA starting in January 2009 as a Principal Copyright Documentation Officer, then in 2010 as a Principal Copyright Licensing Officer, and then in March 2013 became the Acting Chief Executive Officer. She also has a Bachelor of Law from Tumaini University, Iringa University College and has been an Advocate and Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths of Tanzania since 2008.
Being in the copyright industry, she has prepared and presented different copyright papers and participated in different internal and external trainings and researches including the research on how copyright based industries contribute to Tanzania’s economy sponsored by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
